OVERVIEW:

Propelling Ohio’s Ingenuity

JobsOhio is a private, non-profit economic development corporation that acts as a catalyst for high-growth business investments. In late 2025, Ohio launched "Your Move," a massive national media campaign—spanning TV, radio, and out-of-home (OOH) displays—to attract top-tier talent and corporations to the state.

Partnering with the agency Shipyard, I served as a UX/UI designer and technical consultant responsible for building the digital infrastructure that would convert this national awareness into measurable action. This high-stakes initiative was successfully delivered within an unprecedented three-month launch window. This was the engineering of a state-level recruitment engine.

INSIGHT:

The Talent War in an On-Demand Economy

The competition for talent is no longer a regional focus; it is a global "Talent War." While competitors launched aggressive place-based marketing, Ohio needed to reclaim the customer relationship through a superior, value-added direct channel.

The insight was clear: to remain the preferred choice for the modern professional, the digital experience had to match the frictionless, mobile-first standard of modern "one-tap" mobility services.



STRATEGY:

Simple, Intelligent, & Performance-Driven

Our strategy focused on creating a "Mobility Concierge" experience that prioritized speed, clarity, and predictive utility.

Unified Destination:
We engineered a seamless hand-off from physical billboards and TV spots to a high-performance digital destination.

Scalable Framework:
The architecture was built as a flexible framework capable of supporting various "daughter" sites, including the Talent Hub (CallOhioHome.com) and the Recruitment Program (FindYourOhio.com).

B2B & B2C Synergy:
We designed pathways that simultaneously served global corporations looking for expansion and individual talent seeking their next career move.

OBJECTIVE:

From Awareness to Action

The primary mission was to act as a lead-generation engine that connects users to the JobsOhio CRM. We aimed to translate the "Your Move" brand promise into a functional tool that fueled the learners, dreamers, and doers looking to build their futures in Ohio.

PROCESS + WORKFLOW:

The Zero-Failure Pipeline

Because the media campaign was live, there was zero margin for error. We implemented a rigorous Agile "Ticket Lifestyle" to ensure the ship was built perfectly while sailing at full speed.

Agile Rigor:
I worked within a tightly integrated squad where the lead moved tickets from the "Backlog" to "Sprint" only after full definition to prevent development blocks.

The Deployment Lifecycle:
We utilized a multi-stage pipeline to ensure stability:

  • Development Sandbox: Initial coding and UI construction.

  • Test Environment: Automated smoke tests and code merges.

  • QA & PO Acceptance: Critical gates where the Product Owner approved stories as "Accepted" before they moved to the final build.

Failure Recovery:
If a failure occurred during the build or deployment, the ticket was immediately triaged. Real-time Slack notifications allowed the squad to resolve issues instantly, protecting our 90-day timeline.

RESULTS:

Economic Acceleration

The digital transformation successfully supported a historic period of growth for the state:

Project Increase:
Contributed to a 47% increase in committed projects (2,155 total).

Capital Investment:
Supported an 85% increase in capital expenditures, totaling $67B.

Payroll Impact:
Facilitated a 27% increase in new payroll, reaching a record $6.6B in economic impact.

Proven ROI:
For every $1 JobsOhio invested, the strategic digital and marketing efforts helped generate $17 of tax revenue for the state.
