INTRODUCTION:
Follett, aiming to be a leader in collegiate retail, made a significant technology investment to completely overhaul its online commerce platform. The goal was to transform its thousands of university bookstore websites into a unified, consumer-friendly omnichannel experience.
Being a leader in collegiate eCommerce, Follett partnered with strategic partners and industry leaders such as IBM, IBM iX and Sogeti, Capgemini Group's Technology and Engineering Services subsidiary, to deliver this leading edge cloud-based solution to expand the browsing, searching and shopping experience for the 1,800+ physical and virtual campuses Follett manages in the U.S. and Canada.
This was a major shift specifically designed to modernize the entire online shopping experience (and buying habit)s of consumers—students, faculty, alumni, and fans—at the various university bookstores Follett manages.
The initial pilot phase of the program involved several institutions, including the University of Notre Dame, Stanford University, Boston College, Texas Christian University, Arizona State University, and New York University.
