Aspire

Framework & Design System for Loyalty Architecture

OVERVIEW:

Aspire was a strategic B2B initiative developed by Alliance Data Card Services (now Bread Financial) to streamline the acquisition and development of co-branded credit programs. Designed as a high-level consultative tool, Aspire served as a roadmap for prospective retail and enterprise clients, guiding them through the complex process of tailoring a private-label credit program to align with their specific corporate goals and customer demographics.

INSIGHT:

The challenge in selling a co-branded credit program is its complexity; stakeholders often struggle to visualize how a financial tool integrates with their existing brand experience. The insight behind Aspire was to "productize" the partnership process.

By creating a tangible, branded narrative, Alliance Data could demystify the credit lifecycle—shifting the conversation from abstract financial data to a vivid, touchpoint-driven journey. To succeed, the program needed a visual identity that felt as premium and flexible as the retail brands it aimed to attract.

OBJECTIVE:

Working closely with the internal marketing and brand teams, I was tasked with defining the Aspire brand essence and developing the visual infrastructure to support global sales efforts.

My role involved building a comprehensive design system from the ground up: I established rigorous brand guidelines, a definitive typographic family, and a custom icon library to categorize product silos.

Furthermore, I curated a library of textures and a photo style treatment specifically aligned with various consumer verticals. To bridge the gap between design and manufacturing, I authored the Co-Branded Specifications and Guidelines, providing essential technical standards for credit cards, data carriers, and direct mailers for our vendor partners.

RESULTS:

Aspire became a cornerstone of the Alliance Data sales engine, significantly improving "speed to market" for new client acquisitions. By providing a clear, branded visual language for the loyalty lifecycle, the initiative allowed sales teams to communicate the value of a partnership with greater precision.

The technical specifications I developed successfully transformed the brand onboarding process, reducing production friction for external vendors and ensuring that every co-branded card and mailer maintained the high aesthetic standards of the Aspire framework across all physical and digital touchpoints.
